Description
• Details over forty individual amulets, with descriptions of their sacred materials, lineage, and consecration rituals
• Teaches protocols for wearing, storing, and maintaining amulets as well as practices to activate their protective, attraction, and wealth-drawing powers
• Reveals the animist, necromantic, and Buddhist roots of Thai talismanic practice through the author’s personal initiations in Thailand
Thai amulets are vessels of spirit and magickal power that protect against physical harm, attract wealth and love, confer authority, and ward off malevolent spirits. Buddhist shaman Sheer Zed draws on years of initiatory experience with the Ajarns, Krubas, and Lersi of Thailand to present this extensive guide.
The author provides a history of talismanic practice that includes the Mesopotamian Tablet of Destinies, Egyptian Ankh, Jewish kame’a, and Hindu Chintāmaṇi. He then focuses on Thai amulets, detailing the six periods of development in this tradition. Zed examines the legendary Benjaphakee, or “League of Five,” tracing their materials, symbolism, and historic origins. He profiles over forty amulets from his collection—including the necromantic Phra Ngang, the seductive Phaya Khao Kam, and the wealth-drawing Duang Ta Pra Arahant Song Sap—detailing the sacred powders, prai (necromantic) ingredients, takruts, and khathas (mantras) that give each its magickal function.
The author instructs on how to work with amulets, discusses the importance of mantras, how to interact with each type of amulet, and how to store, maintain, and build a devotional practice around a collection. He expands on a full range of Thai occult accouterments—takrut belts, See Pung balm, Pha Yant spirit cloths, and the Mitmor ritual blade—to situate amulets within the wider system of Thai magickal practice.
Grounded in the author’s extensive personal experience, Thai Magick Amulets is a guide for collectors and practitioners of Southeast Asian Buddhist occultism who seek knowledge and direct engagement with this living tradition.
